About Product

The International Road Speeds data set provides traffic patterns for many countries. It provides speeds from past traffic flow measurements at 15 minute intervals. The separate speed limit product gives the legal limits for different sections of road (traffic could actually travel more slowly when congested, for example). All this data is only available for use with HERE map content road networks. Allmapdata from CACI link the data to the road network for you.

What's key?

Traffic pattern speeds for many countries

  • Average road speed estimates at 15-minute increments for each day of the week
  • Alternatively you can choose 60-minute increments or you may wish to commission a bespoke data set with your preferred ranges, such as weekends, nighttime or specific time intervals
  • Average traffic speeds in MPH or KMPH, calculated from past traffic flow measurements
  • Monthly average, seasonal average and yearly average speeds
  • Speeds are provided for each TMC (Traffic Message Channel), which is a specific road section made up of several individual major roads used to deliver traffic and travel information to drivers
  • Speeds are uncapped and so resemble actual speeds rather than legal speeds

Speed limits for many countries

  • Geocoded Speed Limits for motorways and main roads (attributes added to function classes 1-2 of HERE mapping )
  • Geocoded Speed Limits Pro also for minor and connector roads (attributes added to function classes 1-4 of HERE mapping)
  • States whether speed limit is conditional or unconditional

Traffic Patterns and Speed Limits are exclusively for use with HERE Premium street mapping

How is it used?

  • Improve routing and scheduling applications in many countries
  • Calculate journey times according to time of day and day of the week
  • Create accurate drive time isochrones based on past traffic flow measurements

Features

  • Additional speed attribute fields for your HERE Premium mapping data

Traffic speeds

Attributes

Traffic Pattern speeds

  • Speeds in 15-minute increments by day of the week e.g. just for Monday at 9am or for overnight at the weekend
  • Number of measurements (probe count) used to calculate those speeds
  • Direction of travel
  • Unique IDs which link to HERE street mapping

Speed Limits

  • Speed limit information for HERE map content function classes 1-2
  • Speeds are in kilometres per hour and time periods are referenced to local time zones
  • Attribute nodes contain speed limit signs
  • Road links following a sign are attributed with the same speed limit until another speed limit sign is encountered
  • Speed limits are categorised as conditional (i.e. school, weather, time and seasonal restraints and lane dependent) or unconditional (fixed or variable road speed limits)

HERE map content: Speed Limits Pro

  • Speed limit information for HERE map content function classes 1-4
  • Speeds are in kilometres per hour and time periods are referenced to local time zones
  • Attribute nodes contain speed limit signs
  • Road links following a sign are attributed with the same speed limit until another speed limit sign is encountered
  • Speed limits are categorised as conditional (i.e. school, weather, time and seasonal restraints and lane dependent) or unconditional (fixed or variable road speed limits)
